Auf der Suche nach der Reduktion? Oder etwas aus dem Malprozess heraus entwickeln? Ich bin mir nicht sicher, was aktuell mein Thema ist. Wahrscheinlich stimmen beide Beschreibungen.
Looking for ways of reduction? Or working my way out of the process of painting? I am not sure what the actual topic is. Probably both descriptions are valid.
Wie viele andere Künstler fand ich es immer faszinierend, was mein Farbmaterial selbst an Wirkungen entfaltete, während ich damit arbeitete: Vielleicht war ich gerade damit beschäftigt, eine Vorstellung von Licht oder Volumen umzusetzen, wenn das mehr oder weniger flüssige, manchmal auch regelrecht klebrige Material Spuren und Strukturen erzeugte, die ihre eigene visuelle Qualität und Daseinsberechtigung entwickelten. Sprechen Sie mit einem Maler und Sie werden eine ähnliche Geschichte hören.
Neugierde hilft. Versuche, einfach mal ein paar zufällige Spuren auf einem Untergrund zu hinterlassen und schaue, wie eine Kombination von Farben oder die Verbindung von Hand- und Körperbewegung etwas Besonderes entstehen lässt. Natürlich taucht die Frage nach Bewusstsein und Steuerung auf und es zeigt sich, dass es ein ausbalancierter Prozess von Intuition und Spiel einerseits und andererseits Kontrolle und bewusster Komposition wird.
Like many other artists I found it always fascinating what the material of paint was doing while I worked with it: Perhaps I was pursuing some idea of light or volume in my painting when the more or less fluid or even sticky material produces traces and structures which „just came out“ and developed a visual quality of its won right. Talk to a painter and you will hear a similar story.
Curiosity helps. Just try to leave a few casual marks on the surface and see how a combination of colours and a certain movement of hands and body create something specific. Developing a lively structure it invites me to follow this line and so how a painting might grow. Surely the question of control will come up. It turns out to become a balanced process between intuition and playfulness vs. control and composition.

Manchmal ist es ein Vorteil, meine Grundstruktur erst einmal zu definieren, indem ich eine Schicht Farbe als Untergrund auftrage.
Sometimes it helps to define my basic structure beforehand by giving a layer of paint to the background.
Das kann dazu führen, dass dies alleine schon „Form wird“ und einen eigenen Bildansatz darstellt.
